Believe it or not, 12 South was once a destination for locals! Neighborhood residents and Belmont students were once the primary audience for the restaurants and shops along the friendly strip. Maybe you remember Rumor’s Wine Bar? Or Portland Brew Coffee?

One spot locals will never forget is MAFIAoZA’s Pizzeria and Pub, a bar and restaurant serving Italian faire, wood-fired pizzas and an unforgettable Two For Tuesdays deal that resulted in countless slices and brews being consumed; at an undeniable bargain! The wait times could be extremely long but the resulting delights were always worth it.

From June of 2003 to October of 2024, they proved that locally owned businesses could not only survive but thrive in 12 South. Twenty-one years is a good one and we’ll consume a gooey slice of za in their honor.
