Description

A lot of ink has been spilled over Opryland USA, the beloved 120-acre theme park that operated from 1972 to 1997 in the area now known as Opry Mills. For many of us, it was a second home during the summer. For others, it was an extra special treat to visit anywhere with actual roller coasters! For everyone, it was a destination perfect for forming core memories.

Opryland was a place that took the base idea of Nashville’s “country music” and turned it into something accessible to everyone. The rides and entertainment were often musically named – the Dulcimer Splash, the Rock n Roller coaster, and even the Wabash Cannonball took its namesake for a famous Roy Acuff tune. For a time there were even musical characters that roamed the park – Barney Bass, Delilah Dulcimer, Frankie Fiddle, Johnny Guitar, Jose Mandolin, and Yancey Banjo.

Twenty-five years of operation is a good run for a restaurant or retail but for a theme park, it feels like the blink of an eye. It’s a pity that the property owners felt that a mall would be a better use of the land, despite Opryland being profitable at the time. Maybe it’s best that it went out on a high note but, damn, we miss it.

Special tee design for a special place. You won’t find this one anywhere else (most likely)!

Printed on Bella+Canvas 3001 shirts. 100% cotton and lightweight! Tear away label to reduce potential itchiness. Sized slightly snug for adults.
