Description
Opened in 1967, 100 Oaks was once one of the largest malls in all of Tennessee; boasting 750,000 square feet of retail space. Over 60 businesses operated out of the massive complex at one time and community events like the Fattest Cat and Ugliest Dog Contests were as celebrated as Santa Claus at Christmas. The name was derived from the fact that there were literally 100 Oak Trees planted on the property at one time (an amusingly mocked notion by the Twelve Oaks motel just up the street). Locals can now find a handful of big chain retail establishments and Vanderbilt medical services operating out of the space.
