Description

Emma’s Flowers on West End was known for it’s iconic pink building and tagline as “the superlative florist.” A Village of Flowers has been a mainstay in Hillsboro Village since 1999. Joy’s Floral Co. may be the oldest florist in the nation.

All told, Nashville has no shortage of memorable floral companies but in 2023, a fire consumed the building for Bates Florist on Gallatin Rd. The building had been vacant for many years but there had been an iconic yellow and green sign out front for years. At one time, the sign even had neon flowers adorning it.

Looking back through Nashville records, Bates Florist had been advertising the Gallatin Rd location since January of 1959. Prior to that, they were located at 26th Ave dating back to 1939. It closed in 2016; meaning they provided Nashville with seventy-seven years of flowers. Thank you, Bates!
