Description
Seventy-five beers on tap and 140 bottled varieties were available at The Flying Saucer Draught Emporium, located in the old luggage station behind Union Station. The cavernous space gave beer lovers – ne Beerknurds – a very comfortable place to gather, have a vaguely German influenced meal (including unforgettable beer cheese and pretzels) and imbibe from a very wide variety of beers.
Patrons could also sign up for the UFO Club and challenge themselves to drink 200 different variety of beers, earning them memberships into The Ring of Honor; which got their name on a commemorative plate that hung on the wall.
Twenty-three years in service slinging thousands of different kinds of beers isn’t a bad track record. Nashville saw the Flying Saucer close in 2021 and we sorely miss it. The Finch oyster bar was set to open in the space as of Nov 2023.
