Description
Once upon a time in early 2004, there was a little hot dog spot on Ewing Ave over in Pie Town named Hot Diggity Dogs. The name “Pie Town” wasn’t even a location anyone recognized back then! Patrons would line up at the adorable brick building near the Rescue Mission and get a blast of authentic Chicago hot dogs, some of the cities best french fries and even a unique Nashville style dog.
You might be surprised to learn that co-owner Layla Vartain is the same Layla namesake as the downtown honky tonk, Layla’s Bluegrass Club Inn. She operated a hotdog cart at venue and realized its popularity could stand on its own. With Gayle Davis, they opened and operated Hot Diggity Dogs for 15 years before closing in 2019; leading the way for I Dream Of Weenie, Zackie’s, Cori’s and more. Countless hungry stomachs thank them.
