Description

Catty corner from The Lipstick Lounge in East Nashville used to be the home of Mad Donna’s; a neighborhood destination that operated from 2008 to 2016 thanks to owners Rachel Fontenot, Rhonda Cerone and Neil Clark. The bar and restaurant offered a family friend dining area downstairs and an upstairs bar for events, DJs and bands.

The menu was designed to fit “between the bars of East Nashville and Margot,” more than bar food but not inaccessible to all. To that end, they’d put homemade queso on top of a burger, they had a delicious triple grilled cheese and some rather imaginative french toast (Cap’n Crunch style). It was a fantastic neighborhood spot, with plenty of tasty menu offerings and hundreds of shows worth remembering.

The 2016 closure was an abrupt and confusing piece of Nashville history. Not two weeks after announcing their closure, the building was rebranded to “Wylee’s Cafe & Bar” with a menu composed entirely of items themed to Sheryl Crow songs. Seriously. Turns out, Crow herself and reality-TV restaurateur Jon Taffer had pitched Fontenot on this new endeavor that didn’t make it past the Spring of 2017. Bizarre!
