In 2025, it’s easy to find a craft cocktail bar all over Greater Nashville but in 2009 it was a rare breed. The Patterson House was brand new to the West Side and a trio of experienced mixologists opened their own unique destination right off Gallatin Rd – No. 308. The founders brought experience from New York and Miami bars and launched an entirely memorable experience.
The cocktails were often a twist on a classic (i.e. the French 75 becoming the Hibiscus 75) or birthed from fresh behind-the-bar ingredients like housemade soda. Unlike many other speakeasy style cocktail bars, 308 was not entirely interested in being a dark and quiet place to sip a drink. Often, they would host high energy dance parties filled with sweaty bodies from corner to corner. Squeezing through a sea of bodies to get an Old Fashioned was quite the memorable experience.
308 ran successfully for a decade. The owners opened other bars and clubs in town that are still running successfully – notably Old Glory & The Flamingo. At the end of 2019, they closed 308, renovated the concept and reopened as CAMP, an ode to national parks with a menu of unique drinks. In 2022, they left the space entirely. It’s been a number of bars since then but nothing that can maintain the magic of 308.
