Description
In the late 1960s, Thai immigrant Patti Myint came to Nashville to attend university. She opened International Market next door to Belmont University in 1975; a destination grocery and restaurant for authentic Thai cuisine. In the 1990s, she opened a second restaurant across the street called “International House” – a dedicated restaurant serving even more Thai offerings. By 2003, the International House space had become PM – named for the owner Patti Myint.
PM served as a destination for Belmont students and residents, with a diverse offering of Thai, sushi and even burgers on the menu. Part of that eclectic offering emerged from Myint’s son, Arnold Myint – a professional ice skater and chef at the time. By 2006, Arnold left New York and took over PM as owner and head chef.
Patti Myint passed away in 2018; leaving an incredible mark on Nashville. Her son Arnold closed PM in 2021 and moved the original International Market across the street in 2019. The Myint family continues to leave their mark on Nashville with Suzy Wong’s House of Yum, {blvd} (RIP), Cha-Chah (RIP) and, hopefully, more to come.
