Description

The Chute was more than just a bar. Nestled in the back corner of a mixed use complex on 8th Ave S. (now home to ML Rose) The Chute contained six different themed bars inside of it. Sanctuary for karaoke, Falls for hanging on the patio, Stirrup for sing-alongs at the piano bar, Rainbow for drag performances, Round-Up for country and western styles and Eagle for leather and pool interests. It provided a myriad of entertainment options and, more importantly, it served as a safe haven for the LGBTQ+ in a city that has been historically unkind to gay bars.

Opened in the early 1980s and continuously operating until it’s closure in 2007, The Chute held the title for longest operating gay bar in Nashville. It was the home base for the Smoky Mountain Rodeo Association, the Music City Bears and The Conductors leather club. It was, in a word, legendary.

All profits from the sale of this tee will go to Nashville Launch Pad; a non-profit dedicated to creating safe spaces for LGBTQ+ youth. Learn more at www.nashvillelaunchpad.com.
