Description
There are many infamous bars in the Nashville area but probably none more infamous than The Gold Rush on Elliston Place. The double sided bar began operation in 1974 before closing its doors (rather quickly) in 2019 for unknown reasons. During the 1980s, there were wild tales of backroom cocaine parties and unhinged debauchery. By the mid-90’s, antics had calmed down from such heightened mania but the spot continued to serve as the pre-and-post destination for a show at The Rock Block venues to tie one on.. then tie another one on… and another and another. The beloved Bean Roll on their limited menu would work overtime to soak up all that alcohol. A magically balanced bar experience if ever there was one.
Some blame the closing of the beloved bar on the smoking ban enacted in 2016 but there’s no way to know exactly what caused the regulars to stop coming. For anyone looking to relive the glory days, The Nations Bar and Grill over on 51st Ave N has the Bean Roll you seek every Tuesday.
