Description

With a history stretching back to the early 1920s, Vandyland (née Candyland) was a beloved West End destination for seventy-eight years under owners Mitch and Bea Givens. Patrons came to partake in cheeseburgers, shakes, and other classic diner fare; often prepared by 30+ year employee Chef Mack McGee. The cozy little spot had seats for 85; filled with locals or the occasional celebrity (Minnie Pearl is reported to have loved it).

In 2006, the restaurateurs simply weren’t offered a renewal on their lease, so they closed up shop – knowing they’d had a legendary run. The iconic Vandyland neon sign lives on in our hearts.
