Description
Bill Boner was the mayor of Nashville from 1987 to 1991. His name was Bill Boner. Not a stage name or even a name he considered changing when running for public office. Aside from the infantile absurdity of his name, in the mid-80s he once went undercover to learn more about the homeless situation downtown and took on the pseudonym Hoot Jackson. Truly a legendary character. Today the Nashville Scene’s Boner Awards live on in his honor.
