Description
From 1974 to 2021, Obie’s Pizza dished up New York style slices from its home on Elliston Place; directly next door to The End and across the street from Exit/In. A staple for Vanderbilt students and concert goers looking for a snack, Obie’s was most well known for its ludicrous mascot – the Tomato Copter. It’s a helicopter with a tomato for a cabin. Is it a reference to Attack of the Killer Tomatoes? Is it a reject Veggie Tales character? There’s no way to find the answers anymore, we just accept it for the delightful madness that it is.
Drive by “Sweet Dots” Bubble Tea to pay your respects. Tomato Copter 4Ever.
